I can finally smell and feel Spring in the air. Spring depicts change and growth. Just like a plant or flower that has to push its way up through the dirt to make its way to the sunlight and air to survive, our own spiritual growth can be difficult. Like a budding flower, we must push our way through our “dirt” (i.e., recognize if we have allowed ourselves to be stuck in our own “sin dirt” and allow ourselves to be stripped of those sins that are keeping us in a holding pattern that prevent us from growing). And then we must allow the Holy Spirit to stretch us and help us reach up to the “Son-light” in order to reach new spiritual heights.

When we become spiritually born again through Christ, the Holy Spirit will force us to grow. With the power of the Holy Spirit, we are called to become more like Jesus and become more holy. It is this spiritual growth (which often feels uncomfortable) that becomes a birthmark of our faith.
